Lagos

Lagos was one of the shipyards for the caravels that made the famous voyages during the Portuguese "Age of Discoveries" in the 14th and 15th centuries.

A fortified historic wall surrounds the old town perimeter which offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants, cultural attractions and nightlife entertainment.

Its palm-tree lined promenade near the river is worth a visit. From here you can make a boat trip to visit the magical rocky coastline with its golden arches, caves and secret beaches. Nearby is a stunning 18-hole golf course, "Palmares", that overlooks the entire bay.
